Disaster Recovery Training
The Disaster Recovery Training Program has been developed to empower neighborhoods, professionals, and communities to assess their needs, assets, and resources before a natural disaster strikes. The State of Florida is known for being a hurricane target and every year faces the threat of having to recover from these natural disasters. In an effort to promote disaster resiliency, the Disaster Recovery Training Program provides education for citizens to acquire critical knowledge and skills about preparing for and recovering from natural disasters. In the future, social workers and other community professionals can pursue training in Long-Term Case Management, to meet the growing demand for this needed service after a natural disaster occurs.
Mission
The Disaster Recovery Training Program uses innovative, community-engaged approaches and best practices to promote Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in communities by increasing their capacity to respond to natural disasters.
