Marketing and Communications Assistant

Location: University of South Florida, Jim Walter Partnership Center, Tampa, FL

Summary: This position develops and coordinates marketing and public relations for the Jim Walter Partnership Center (JWPC). Applicants should be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software. HTML experience a plus.

Job Duties:

  • Maintains and updates JWPC website on a weekly basis
  • Develops brochures , flyers and marketing materials for the Grassroots Leadership Development Program, Youth Mentoring and Civic Engagement Program, and Kingian Nonviolence Training Program and other programs that are initiated by the center
  • Writes press releases for upcoming events and reviews with supervisor
  • Assists in the development of organizational branding
  • Maintains contact with USF Marketing staff to ensure compliance with USF marketing regulations
  • Designs program booklet(s) for College Link/ENLACE Program
  • Assists in the development of annual report(s)
  • Records staff / board  meeting minutes
  • Performs all other duties specified through grant or contract requirements

Educational Background: High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred.

Experience Background: 1-2 years experience developing promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). HTML experience a plus.

Hours: 15-20 hrs/week

Pay: $9-11/hr (based on experience)
