On-Line Inquires

From time to time, individuals or business owners may have a need to inquire about the amount and nature of criminal activity either where they live or a given business location. For the most part, much of this data is public information and can be provided to the public by the Records Section of the Sheriff's Office as long as the information provided is allowed within the confines of Florida State Statute 119.

The detailed crime data for unincorporated Hillsborough County is captured by the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) in the Records Section. This information is available to the public and provided to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for inclusion in state and national crime statistical publications. Request can be made either by mail or visiting in person at Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.

To that end, many property owners and managers have taken the steps to conduct "Background Criminal Check" or "Credit Check" to help them make better selections and meet these guidelines. There are many locations where background checks can be obtained, and some cost very little or they are "free."

Local Background Checks (Hillsborough County Only) can be obtain on up to three (3) individuals "while you wait" by appearing in person at the Identification Section of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. If you need more that three background checks conducted, the Sheriff's Office will be happy to work with you if you can leave your request and return to pick the completed checks at a later date. Chriminal Arrest History On-Line Inquires

An alternative and quicker method for obtaining "Local" criminal information on anyone is throught the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office On-Line Arrest History Inquiry System via their website. This database contains entries for each arrested individual taken into custody within Hillsborough County dating back to January 1, 1975. For individuals or business needing searchs prior to 1975, that information can be obtained via a "manual search" which must be done at the Identification Section on Falkenburg Road.
