How You Can Help
The Jim Walter Partnership Center uses all its resources to empower people to build stronger communities, and help and support in fulfilling this mission is always welcomed.
Internships and Volunteers
The Jim Walter Partnership Center staff could always use a helping hand, and volunteers or student interns are valuable to us. Assistance with research, accounting, public relations, graphic designing, and program planning is always welcomed. Those who can speak Spanish and Creole are strongly encouraged to inquire. If you’d like to join us in bettering the community, please contact us.
Supporting CASS Delegates
Imagine leaving your home and family behind to travel to a new country with a different culture and language, and with limited funds and items you can bring. Now imagine being there for 6 months with limited contact with your family. CASS delegates live in off-campus dormitory-style housing, and sacrifice many luxuries in order to learn how to better their communities. We work hard to find transportation and plan recreational activities for the groups, but we need your help. The stipend they receive can only provide for so much. Ways you can help their stay here more comfortable are:
- Donate Items: Toiletries, blow dryers, cameras, laptops, international phone cards.
- Donate Meals: Provide free meals or discounted meal vouchers to local restaurants.
- Support Recreational Activities: Free or discounted tickets to local attractions.
- Monetary Contributions: Can be designated for a specific purpose or to support the JWPC mission. Contributions designated to the JWPC mission will benefit the current programmatic needs.
Supporting College Link Participants
Students tutored through the College Link program are usually the first in their families to go to College, and are from low-income families. Our tutors are there to help the students with their academics and be a mentor the students can depend on for support, but we’d also like to ensure the students have the school supplies they need to be successful.
Donations of the following are always welcomed:
College Link Day donations:
- T-shirts/Caps
- Food Sponsors
- Motivational Speakers
- Wal-Mart Gift Cards (to give to students so they can buy school supplies they need)
Supporting Grassroots Leadership
We offer all of our Grassroots Leadership trainings FREE of charge to anyone wishing to become a more effective grassroots leader. This not only includes the training, but opportunities to learn from the best leaders in the community. This can be done by:
- Becoming a Guest Speaker
- Donating money for mini grants for additional trainings/conferences
During the 5-week trainings and the graduation banquet, we could also use:
- Food sponsors
-
